Most applications in the state are filed with help rather than alone. How assisted filing works, what it should cost, and what to check before you walk away from the counter.

What an assisted centre does

A Jan Seva Kendra or Common Service Centre files on the e-District portal on your behalf: it scans your documents, fills the form, takes the statutory fee and gives you the acknowledgement. The application is yours, filed against your details. The centre is doing the typing, not becoming the applicant.

What to check before you leave

• The acknowledgement or application number: written down or photographed. Without it you cannot track the file.
• The mobile number on the form: it must be yours, not the centre's, or you will not receive the OTPs and the queries.
• The particulars as entered: read back to you. A name typed at the counter is a name you are responsible for.
• A receipt for whatever you paid, separating the statutory fee from the assistance charge.

The number on the form has to be yours. This is the one that causes real trouble. When the mobile number belongs to the centre, every notification about your application goes to them, and a file that needs a response from you stalls silently.

Tehsil camps

Districts periodically run camps where filing and verification happen at one place, which shortens the field-verification step considerably. They are announced locally rather than centrally: the Tehsil office and the district administration's own notices are where to look.
