How to get a UP certificate corrected or re-issued after it is issued

Start here, because it saves most people an application. Certificates issued through the e-District portal stay downloadable from the account they were applied from. If you have lost the printout, log in and download it again rather than applying for a duplicate.

What a correction covers

Corrections handle a clerical error made in issuance (a misspelt name, a wrong father's name, a transposed date) where your own application had it right. Take the issued certificate and the document that proves the correct particulars to the issuing Tehsil, or file the correction request the portal offers for that service.

If your own form was wrong. A detail you entered incorrectly is not a clerical error, and it usually needs a fresh application rather than a correction. Check your submitted form before you decide which route to take. The portal keeps a copy.

What needs a fresh application

• An income or EWS certificate for a new financial year. These are never renewed, only reissued for the new year.
• A change in the household that changes the finding: income, land, or family composition.
• A domicile certificate where the institution wants one issued within the last six months.
• An OBC non-creamy-layer certificate that has expired.

How long a correction takes

Less than a fresh application, because there is no field verification to repeat: usually a week or two, depending on the Tehsil's queue. Keep the original application number: the correction is processed against the same file.
