The five mistakes that send an application back, from name mismatches to expired address proof.
Five mistakes account for most rejected UP certificate applications, and none of them are about eligibility. Here is what actually sends a file back, and what to do instead.
A rejection on the merits is not refundable anywhere. The department has already done the work. Almost every avoidable rejection is caught by re-reading your own form once before you submit it.
This is the single most common reason. The Aadhaar spelling is treated as the reference, and a ration card or marksheet that differs by an initial, a surname or a spelling variant is enough for a query. Fix the weaker document first, or file with the version that matches Aadhaar throughout.
A domicile application claims three years of residence and then attaches a bill from last month. That proves an address, not a duration. Attach the oldest document you have for the address as well as a recent one, so the trail is visible.
The Lekhpal verifies the address on the form in person. If you have moved recently, or the address is a family property where you do not live, the report comes back negative and the file closes. Apply with the address where you can actually be found, and keep the mobile number on the form reachable.
On income and EWS applications the declaration is the substance of the certificate. A figure declared to fit a scheme threshold, contradicted by a payslip, a return or a land record, is rejected, and so is a land holding left off an EWS form that revenue records show.
A shadowed corner, a cropped edge, a file over the size limit. These bounce before anyone reads them. Rescan rather than resubmit the same file.
If it has already been rejected. Read the reason on the portal before refiling. It names the defect. Correcting that one thing and filing again is usually all that is needed; refiling the same papers unchanged produces the same result.
